BUILDING AND REPAIRE TO JEUTRAL SHIPS!-

With reference to my interview with you this morning

I beg to report that we have at present under construction at

Kowloon Dockyard for neutral owners the following steamships.

Two vessels for Brusgaard Klosterud, Dramèn

in

Two vessels for Hans Kaler & Co., Dramen

Two vessels for the Bian stean Navigation Co., Bangkok.

These vessels are partly completed, a good deal of

the steel framing material has arrived from America and the

balance is on the wây. The owners of the four Horwegian

steamships have just agreed to pay a considerable extra price to cover the cost of this and the remainder of the steel plates

originally ordered fron England which we have had now to get

from America. These steel plates are to be shipped from the

Pacific Coast before the end of the year, and we anticipate

the vessels will be completed in april or May 1917. The Dook

Company's contract with the owners is to hand then over in

Hongkong Harbour after a satisfactory trial trip and I shell

be glad if you can assure us that we will be permitted to

complete these contracts.

We have numerous enquiries fron Korwegian owners

for duplicates of those and other ships, all the steel material for which would under present conditions come from

Americs. Would you kindly advise me if we can entertain

fresh contracts@

With regard to repairs to Neutral Vessels as you are
